For example, as of May 2008, Apple Inc produces ISO, ANSI, and JIS desktop keyboards, each in both extended and compact forms. The extended keyboards have 110, 109, and 112 keys (ISO, ANSI, and JIS, respectively), and the compact models have 79, 78, and 80.
- Scroll down to “U.S. Extended” and select it. (NOTE: Depending on your version of Mac OS, this is probably “ABC Extended” now.) 5. Scroll up again and deselect “Australian” (or whichever keyboard layout was selected before). Close the window. Then, to type the accented letters, do the following.
- The keyboard layout software translates a key press to a character on screen. Mac OS X offers 139 software keyboard layouts. I'll list three examples here, the US, US International and ABC-Extended (previously: US Extended) keyboard. The US keyboard and US International keyboards are very similar.

Since the 1980s, Macintosh computers have included a keyboard layout that facilitates the typing of diacritics and other symbols through the use of the Option key. Windows supplies an “International” layout with a limited range of accents, but using this layout makes the quotation mark and apostrophe keys unusable.
These keyboard layouts fix this situation: one duplicates the standard U.S. layout used on the Mac (also identical to the “Canadian English” keyboard layout), and the other replicates the “U.S. Extended” keyboard layout introduced with Mac OS X. The U.S. Extended provides more accents and places some characters in more logical positions, but the standard Mac layout provides access to a few mathematical symbols that some might find useful. Unlike the Windows layout, these do not change the basic U.S. keyboard.
For their use, see Penn State University or Harvard for the U.S. Extended layout, or Penn State’s page on the standard Mac layout, substituting the AltGr (right Alt) key for the Option key. The Windows On-Screen Keyboard also displays the available combinations.
To install, unzip the downloaded file, and run the “setup.exe” program corresponding to the desired layout; the installer will automatically add the layout to the input menu. Both layouts can be installed on a system simultaneously, and can be removed through the Control Panel.
The source files are in Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator format. Adobe has since created a script for converting keyboard layouts from Mac to Windows format.
Maximum Allowable Cost pricing
Under Maximum Allowable Cost (MAC) pricing, only the MAC priced drugs which are the designated lowest-cost drugs, will be covered by Alberta government-sponsored drug programs. Within each category of MAC products there are a variety of drugs available, clinical evidence shows that all of them are therapeutically similar and equally effective.

Physicians may continue to prescribe and plan members may continue to choose any brand name or generic product; however, the Alberta government sponsored drug programs will only pay up to the MAC price and the plan member will be responsible for paying the difference.
If plan members are currently taking a medication that costs more than the MAC price, they can ask their pharmacist to adapt their prescription for the MAC-priced drug.
If a plan member has tried the MAC priced drug, and experienced a documented intolerance, their physician can request an exception by submitting a pricing authorization request form to Alberta Blue Cross®.
MAC pricing is an approach that defines the maximum amount a plan will pay for the cost of a drug product within a specific grouping of drugs used to treat a common condition. For drugs that have a cost at or below the maximum, there will be no effect on how they are covered by a plan. For drugs that have a cost above the maximum, the plan will only pay up to the maximum amount and the plan member will be responsible for the difference in cost.

- Pay the difference out-of-pocket if they choose to continue on their current medication.
